Facts About Hot Sauce

There are two kinds of people in this world:

Those who absolutely love hot sauce in a “can’t do without this stuff” way
Those who don’t in a “why would I do that to myself?” kind of way.

Whichever side you’re on, you’ve got questions.

You know… those questions you’re thinking about but don’t really know the answer to?

Well, we got you.

In this article, we answer 10 questions you’d want to know about hot sauce.

1. Can hot sauce kill you?

In theory, yes. If you eat too much hot sauce then yes… you could die from too much hot sauce.

The big question is: what exactly is “too much”?

It depends… on the form of pepper you’re consuming in proportion to your size.

For instance, research calculated that 3 pounds of powdered chili eaten all at once could kill someone that weighs about 150 pounds.

But, here’s the thing: before you reach that point where the hot sauce is doing enough damage to your body, your body will tell you. You’ll experience sweating, shaking, vomiting all before you can get to that point.

In other words, hot sauce can’t kill you. You can’t take it in enough quantities to actually do you in.

So, hot sauce lovers, you’re absolutely safe.

And hot sauce non-lovers, those on the other side of the spectrum aren’t trying to kill themselves, no matter how much it seems that way.

2. Are hot sauces keto-friendly?

When you’re on a keto diet, one thing is important: Managing your carb intake and keep it under 50g/day.

On average, a 100g bottle of hot sauce contains 1.8g of Carbs; a tablespoon – 0.1g of carbs.

So yes, hot sauce is keto-friendly. What you should be more concerned about is how many calories the food you’re putting the hot sauce on has!

3. Can hot sauce cause ulcers?

No. If you’ve already got an ulcer and consume too much hot sauce, it can aggravate your symptoms but it doesn’t actually cause ulcers. In fact, according to the CDC, most ulcers are actually caused by bacteria.
